Common Domain Name Rules (Anchor: common)

  • Priwil Information Technologies provides .AU Direct and 3rd Level Domain Registration, under .COM.AU and .NET.AU.

  • Domain Theft Protection feature is not supported for .AU domain names.

    Protecting a Domain Name

  • For Resellers: Both Lock and Suspension features are supported for .AU domain names. Though Locking and/or Suspending a .AU domain name would not prevent Transferring it, as the .AU Registry prohibits blocking Transfers.

    However, Bulk Lock / Unlock and Bulk Suspend / Unsuspend features are not supported for .AU domain names.

  • Move (push) feature is supported for .AU domain names.

  • If for any reason you need to Delete your domain name, contact our Support Team at priwilchennai@gmail.com.

  • Upon deletion, the .AU domain name becomes available for Registration immediately. The domain name does not enter Redemption Grace Period.

    What is Redemption Grace Period?

  • You may download and/or print your .AU Domain Registration Certificate (Anchor: cert) by following this process:

    1. Login to your Control Panel. See details

    2. Search for the domain name and proceed to the Order Information view. See details

    3. Under Domain Registration, click the Domain Registration Certificate link. This will open your domain name's Certificate of Registration in a new window.

      • To Download the Certificate of Registration: Right-click this page and choose to save it on your computer/device.

      • To Print the Certificate of Registration: Click the Print this page button.

Domain Name Registration (Anchor: reg)

  • A .AU domain name can be Registered for 1-5 years.

  • The .AU Registry prohibits the Registration of some domain names See details such as those related to Red Cross, United Nations, Olympics, etc..

  • A .AU domain name has a 1 day Money Back Grace Period.

  • The Bulk Registration feature is not available for .AU domain names.

  • .AU domain names do not support Internationalized Domain Names (IDN).

Domain Name Renewal (Anchor: ren)

  • A .AU domain name can be Renewed for 1-5 years.

    However, you may Renew your .AU domain name anytime from 90 days prior to it's Expiry until 30 days after it Expires.

  • Upon Expiry of a .AU domain name:

    • any service such as email, website, etc., configured for this domain name would stop functioning, until the domain name is Renewed.

    • if the .AU domain name is not Renewed until 30 days, the domain name would get Deleted and would immediately be available for Registration.

Domain Name Transfer (Anchor: trf)

  • Transferring a .AU domain name to Priwil Information Technologies is free of cost.

  • Transfer does not include a Renewal of a .AU domain name.

  • .AU domain names have a 60-Day Transfer Lock placed on them after they are Transferred.

  • All .AU domain names have a Domain (Transfer) Secret Key/Authorization Code.

    The length of a Domain (Transfer) Secret Key/Authorization Code may vary between 6 to 32 characters.

  • Upon placing a Transfer request for your .AU domain name with Priwil Information Technologies, we would validate your Domain (Transfer) Secret Key/Authorization Code with the .AU Registry.

  • The Bulk Transfer feature is not available for .AU domain names.

Domain Name Delete (Anchor: del)

  • A .AU domain name has a Money Back Grace Period of 1 day.

  • If you wish to have your a domain name deleted after the Money Back Period, you need to get in touch with us at priwilchennai@gmail.com and request the same. However, such a request needs to come from the Registrant of the domain name.

  • .AU domain names are only available for registration to Australian entities or companies incorporated in Australia.

  • .AU domain names use the General Contact database in the system.

    .AU domain names use the following 4 Contacts itself:

    • Registrant Contact

    • Administrative Contact

    • Technical Contact

    • Billing Contact

  • While adding a .AU Contact, you need to provide the following additional details about the Registrant:

    • EligibilityID Type (Anchor: eidtype): You need to choose an appropriate EligibilityID Type by selecting one of the following values.

      • Australian Company Number (ACN)

      • Australian Business Number (ABN)

      • Victoria Business Number (VIC BN)

      • New South Wales Business Number (NSW BN)

      • South Australia Business Number (SA BN)

      • Northern Territory Business Number (NT BN)

      • Western Australia Business Number (WA BN)

      • Tasmania Business Number (TAS BN)

      • Australian Capital Territory Business Number (ACT BN)

      • Queensland Business Number (QLD BN)

      • Trademark (TM)

      • ARBN

      • Other

    • EligibilityID (Anchor: eid): Mention the ID of the EligibilityID Type you selected above and click the Confirm Eligibility button to validate the details submitted.

    • Entity type (Anchor: etype): This will be automatically fetched depending on the EligibilityID Type and EligibilityID submitted above and will have one of the following values.

      • Commercial Statutory Body

      • Company

      • Incorporated Association

      • Partnership

      • Pending TM Owner

      • Foreign Company

      • Registered Business

      • Sole Trader

      If you have selected EligibilityID Type as Trademark, you need to select Entity Type as either Trademark Owner or Pending TM Owner.

    • Eligibility Name (Anchor: ename): This will be automatically fetched depending on the EligibilityID Type and EligibilityID submitted above. This field will be displayed only for the following EligibilityID Type values.

      • Victoria Business Number (VIC BN)

      • New South Wales Business Number (NSW BN)

      • South Australia Business Number (SA BN)

      • Northern Territory Business Number (NT BN)

      • Western Australia Business Number (WA BN)

      • Tasmania Business Number (TAS BN)

      • Australian Capital Territory Business Number (ACT BN)

      • Queensland Business Number (QLD BN)

      If you have selected EligibilityID Type as Trademark, you need to provide the Eligibility Name which will be your company name.

    • Registrant Name (Anchor: rname): Depending on the EligibilityID Type and EligibilityID submitted above, this will be automatically fetched only for the following EligibilityID Type values.

      • Australian Company Number (ACN)

      • Australian Business Number (ABN)

      • ARBN

      In case of the remaining EligibilityID Type values, you need to enter the proprietor's name in this field. Note that the proprietor should be an individual.

    • Eligibility Reason (Anchor: ereason): Select one of the following options to indicate how you are related to the Registration name you listed above and submit the form to register your .AU domain name:

      • Domain Name is an Exact Match OR Abbreviation OR Acronym of your Entity or Trading Name.

      • Close and substantial connection between the domain name and the operations of your Entity.

      Warranty (Anchor: warranty): Upon selecting this option, you need to also agree to another agreement, by selecting the checkbox besides By submitting this application, I confirm that I am eligible to hold the domain name set out in this application, and that all information provided in this application is true, complete and correct and is not misleading in any way. If any of the information is later found not to be true, or is incomplete, incorrect, or misleading in any way or if this application is submitted in bad faith, the domain name license can be cancelled and can lead to a permanent loss of the use of the domain name.

  • .AU Contacts do not support accented characters.

  • .AU domain names do not support Priwil Information Technologies's Privacy Protection feature.

    However, the .AU Registry does not display Street Address, Telephone and Fax numbers of the Registrant Contact in Whois Lookups.

Note

While you may Move (push) your .AU domain name to another Customer Control Panel, you may not modify the existing Eligibility information, you submitted at the time of Registration.

Name Servers and Child Name Servers related Rules (Anchor: ns)

  • Each .AU domain name needs to have at least 2 Name Servers and may have upto 6 Name Servers.

  • There is no limitation on the number of Child Name Servers you can create.

  • You may associate upto 13 IP Address per Child Name Server.

  • You may associate IPv6 Address in Child Name Servers.

  • While you may modify a Name Server, you can not modify a Child Name Server. You may instead delete the existing Child Name Server and add another one.
